About Us

We're a program of the Henry George School of Social Science (HGS), a 501 c (3) non profit established in San Francisco in 1950. The HGS mission is to educate the public in the principles of political economy with special reference to the thought of Henry George.

the Henry George Historical Society

exists to share the generous spirit of Henry George with the citizens, denizens and visitors of San Francisco.

We want the city, both the general public and the municpal officials, to take note of one of San Francisco's signal residents. To that end, we lead a lively, chock-full-of-ideas walking tour. We produce occasional public talks and offer these to historical, service and political  organizations.

For fun, we sponsor both bicycle and sailing clubs. Check the Bicycle/Sailing page.

And because we love the arts, we sponsor performance and visual artists who have something georgist to say.

Who We Are

I'm David Giesen, the Society's Director. I'm a school teacher by day, and a big fan of Henry George all the time.
